The 2525 Main St. project was a big learning experience for me. I saw first hand the power of a united community. I was inspired seeing my neighbors speaking out time after time late into the night about a project that they felt was not fit for their neighborhood. So I joined the fight. Even though the project did not affect me personally, I felt that we all needed to be there for our neighbors. So I spoke out, and I collected signatures. THIS is Santa Ana. over 60 neighborhoods exist in Santa Ana. We are there for each other. When one community is need, the others are there to help out. That's how it is and that's how it should be! Yes, I am running for Ward 3, but we are all still very much in this TOGETHER.
As I explained to the Board of Supervisors in this video, Santa Ana residents deal with a lot when it comes to the homeless crises. Santa Ana has been the only city to tackle what should be a County issue, not a Santa Ana issue. It's time we demand other cities pick up the slack. Until then, NO MORE HOMELESS SHELTERS in Santa Ana.
This is a speech I gave at Godinez High School in regards to the Yale Homeless Shelter. Again, I spoke out against this, but this time, I reminded everyone the power that Santa Ana residents have at the county level and it's time we demand some respect!
